“Nature Trail Towards the Peak of Guri i Zi”
Life around water begins at the lake and extends all the way to the forests and high mountain peaks, such as Guri i Zi. The natural trail leading to the peak of Guri i Zi in Gjemth, a destination located in the Mokra region, also passes near the Frangovishta reservoir. The entire trail crosses beech forests (Fagus sylvatica), while also featuring other tree species such as silver fir (Abies alba), Macedonian pine (Pinus peuce), and Bosnian pine (Pinus heldreichii).
The lower flora was equally rich, with species such as saffron crocus (Crocus sp.), primrose (Primula officinalis), orchid species (Orchis sp.), and bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), among many others blooming during this season.
This rich biodiversity made the educational expedition a valuable experience for the participants, giving them the opportunity to better understand how habitats function, their interdependence, and the importance of protecting and coexisting with the species found in this area.
These activities are carried out within the framework of the project “Life Around Water,” part of the Green-AL Programme “Support for Civil Society Organizations 2024–2027,” funded by the Swedish Government through Sida and implemented by Co-PLAN in cooperation with VIS Albania and COSV – Cooperazione per lo Sviluppo.
