The Plan and Necessary Documentation

The preparation of the work plan for the restoration and management of Drilon was the main goal of this project. The proper, detailed analysis of the existing condition of the natural resources and biodiversity of Drilon, the identification of tools and methods for their efficient implementation, aimed not only at minimizing problems but also at preserving and fostering the ecological development of Drilon, with a significant impact on the surrounding area.

This plan was developed to equip the project team and participants with a clear plan for the implementation of the restoration project in Drilon, and for the use of appropriate tools and working methods for the continuous management and restoration of natural resources and biodiversity in Drilon.

Highlighting the most immediate issues was included in the work plan, and these are being addressed through the phases of the project, according to the agreement between GIZ and the Municipality of Buçimas. The goal is to raise public awareness about environmental issues in Drilon, promoting public participation in decision-making on the wetland areas around Drilon. The plan also promotes partnerships between NGOs and the public-private sector for the ecological development of not only Drilon but also the surrounding area, always in close cooperation between Albania and North Macedonia for the conservation and protection of the same wetland zone.
